SUMMARY
The Woodworking CNC Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC woodworking equipment—including CNC routers, edgebander, panel saws, and related machinery—to produce high-quality cabinet components that meet company standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to interpret technical drawings, cut sheets, and work orders. Accuracy, efficiency, and safety are essential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES (duties include but are not limited to):
- Set up, operate, and monitor CNC woodworking equipment including CNC routers, edgebander, panel saws, and drilling/boring machines.
- Load materials, secure workpieces, and ensure correct tooling and machine parameters for each job.
- Read and interpret shop drawings, cut sheets, and production packets to determine machining requirements.
- Verify material thickness, orientation, grain direction, and part identification before running.
- Perform quality checks throughout production to ensure correct dimensions, edge quality, and machine accuracy.
- Adjust machine settings, tooling, vacuum hold-down, and program parameters as needed.
- Identify and resolve issues such as tool wear, incorrect nesting, chip-out, poor edge quality, or machine alarms.
- Assist with programming adjustments, tool changes, and machine zeroing.
- Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and lubrication of CNC woodworking equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper handling and storage of materials and tools.
- Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures, including PPE usage.
- Communicate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to improve workflow.
- Complete production paperwork, labels, and quality checks accurately.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience operating woodworking CNC equipment (CNC router, edgebander, panel saw) preferred.
- Technical training in CNC machining for woodworking is a plus.
- Experience in a cabinetmaking, millwork, or woodworking production environment preferred.
