Under general supervision, the Residential Sales Associate is primarily responsible for providing quotes for residential job orders, preparing client documentation, generating customer satisfaction, generating new orders/sales through outside sales, and maintaining customer relationships in support of the Residential Sales Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (duties include but are not limited to):

  • Reviews proposed requests/drawings received from clients either through phone or email, ensuring necessary information is obtained
  • Creates quotes and jobs for distribution of hardware, wood products, laminate and other solid surface products for residential jobs
  • Confirms project details; makes any required change orders; enters all data into PO/ordering system, according to established procedures
  • Opens customer accounts by obtaining customer agreement, collecting customer information and extending credit
  • Orders materials as necessary for project; tracks and maintains information for delivery, pick-up, fabrication and installation. Creates packets as needed
  • Communicates with customers to identify and understand their service needs; identifies and suggests ways to meet those needs
  • Ensures customer satisfaction through ongoing communication and relationship management; resolves any issues that may arise post-sale
  • Reviews open customer order reports and takes action on open items
  • Prepares, generates and follows up on verbal or written quotations to secure orders or determine reason for loss of order
  • Makes personal sales calls at customer location or by phone on a regular basis
  • Keeps management informed of all customer order status and feedback on a routine basis; submits activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans and monthly and annual sales analyses
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies, as needed
  • Follows all safety and OSHA standards and ensures a safe working environment
  • Attends departmental meetings as required
  • Performs other duties as instructed or required to successfully complete the job


  • Keeps informed of new products
  • Identifies ways for continuous improvement of processes
  • Sets up and files residential contract folders
  • Assists with answering telephone and routes calls to appropriate personnel; checks voicemail messages, as necessary


  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, sales, business or related field OR
  • At least three years of related experience in the industry
